Everyone wants a job that makes them feel fulfilled. That’s what wedding photography is for us. Getting to be a part of some of the most intimate moments of someone’s life? It’s truly a unique experience. Many of the couple’s we’ve worked with have become close friends, and we’re grateful that our relationships with them aren’t solely professional, but personal too.
Experiencing this while getting to make art is also a blessing. Watching our style ebb and flow and evolve, each time getting closer and closer to expressing exactly how we see the world…it’s an intimate and vulnerable thing. When someone sees that and resonates with the work we’re putting out, it’s like they’re seeing us deeply. It’s probably the most fulfilling thing we’ve experienced, artistically, and it’s what we’re striving for. Connecting with people who see the world the same way.
WHY WEDDINGS?
Our approach is mainly documentary-style, which means we’re capturing your day as it plays out without too much interference. We want you to look at the photos and remember the moment, not the pose. You’ll get a lot of candids and in-the-moment shots.
That being said, there are moments when a little bit of posing and guiding goes a long way. You are modelling newbies after all! Maybe we’ll place you in a particular location and let you interact with each other, or give you some guidance and prompts to find your best angles. Regardless, the process feels easy and effortless. We’re very laid back and try to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
HOW WE WORK
Both of us come from a fine arts background, and we went to university together. We started dating in 2014, and started working together very shortly after that. We’re both art and business oriented, so taking our craft and rolling with it, marketing it, and building a career out of it was happened naturally (and with a lot of hard work!).
For me (Emma), I grew up experimenting with many different artistic mediums. I was obsessed with creating, and I ended up studying painting and drawing in university. Photography was always a passion on the side, and I took some courses here and there. It’s funny the impact that experience with other mediums has on my photography work, like my brain is programmed with the eyes of a painter. I tend to focus on the details a lot. Like most artists, mediums evolve over time, and I gradually found myself reaching for the camera more and more. I’m excited to see where it goes next!
Andrew has always been photo and camera obsessed. He is genuinely the most knowledgeable, passionate photographer you’ll ever meet. It’s like meeting a chess grand-master (lol). Photography is generational for him - his parents and grandparents were photographers, and he still uses some of their cameras today. His passion is tangible, and his technical knowledge is impressive. He’s too humble to write that himself so I’m doing it for him!
If you’ve made it this far, we hope we get to know you soon too. :)
